ROGER BISCHOFF

Roger Bischoff e nato nel 1947 nel New Jersey, USA. Ha studiato alla Rietvelt Akademie, Amsterdam nel 1974; Art Students League, New York, dal 1975 al 1978; Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock, USA, nel 1979; Cannonbeach Art School, Oregon, USA, nel 1982; Emily Carr Art Institute, Vancouver, Canada, nel 1984-85; Internazionale Sommerakademie di Belle Arti, Salisburgo, Austria, nel 1987, e Fachhochschule für Kunst, Hannover, Germania, dal 1988 al 1992. Ha viaggiato in diversi Luoghi negli Stati Uniti, Canada, Mexico, Africa, India, ed Europa. Roger Bischoff ha cominciato la sua ricerca in arte nel 1972 come pittore figurativo e descrittivo. Avendo viaggiato in paesi stranieri con culture e stili di vita diversi, Bischoff sentiva la necessità di condividere queste esperienze, insieme ai suoi compaesani, attraverso il disegno e la pittura. Questi disegni e pitture, spesso in forma di schizzi, sono diventati un punto forte del lavoro di Bischoff, da allora fino ad oggi. 1986 trova Bischoff in una cava in Salisburgo, Austria, dove ha iniziato a fare sculture in pietra.Per molti anni ha lavorato in delle cave in tutto il mondo, spostando il suo interesse artistico verso il tridimensionale. Secondo Bischoff, "Non sentivo piu la necessita di reppresentare orrechie e nasi, gomiti e piedi"; ha trovato un Linguaggio della Forma nelle Geometria delle Architetture, dove esprime, con sentimenti accentuati caratteristiche dei rapporti umani, e modi di essere. Forme che si penetrano, si tengono forte, si spingono via, forme, diverse di carattere, inseparabilemente connesse una all’altra. Forme che si aprono da dentro, e lasciano alla luce toccare punti che erano chiusi ed oscuri per miliardi di anni. Forme che portano insieme, in una tensione creativa, elementi amorfi e geometrici, che si contrastono tra superfici lucidate e grezze. L’armonia e gli opposti determinano la composizione e, alla fine, simboleggiono comportamenti umani secolari. Roger Bischoff was born in 1947 in New Jersey, USA. He studied at the Rietvelt Akademie, Amsterdam in 1974, the Art Students League, NYC, from 1975 to 1978, the Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock, NY in 1979, the Cannonbeach Art School, Oregon, in 1982, the Emily Carr Art Institute, Vancouver, in 1984-85, the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Austria in 1987, and the Fachhochschule for Art Hannover, Germany, from 1988 to 1992. He has traveled in different regions in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Africa, India, and Europe. Roger Bischoff began his art search around 1972 as a figurative descriptive painter. Having begun traveling in foreign lands with their different living experiences, and characteristics, Bischoff felt the need to share these experiences, as well his customs and ways and those of his fellow inhabitants by means of drawing and painting. These drawings and paintings, more often than not sketchy in nature, became a mainstay in Bischoff´s oeuvre from that past time, to the present. 1986 landed Bischoff in a stone quarry in Salzburg, Austria, where he learned to sculpt, and the love of stone and stone carving. Many years thereafter found him working in quarries around the world, changing his interest to the three dimensional. According to Bischoff, "I no longer had the need to depict ears and noses, elbows and feet"; he found a Form Language in the Geometry in the Architectonic, where he expresses, with accentuated feeling, characteristics of human relationships, and being. Forms penetrating one another, holding tight, pushing apart, forms different in character, connected inseparably one with the other. Forms opening from within, letting light touch upon centers, which for millions of years were closed and dark. Forms bringing together in creative tension, amorphous and geometric elements, contrasting through polished and raw surfaces. Harmony and opposites determine the composition and ultimately symbolize age-old human character behavior.
